Girl Scout Cookie Valentines for Seniors

Each year, Hyattsville Aging in Place (HAP) hosts a valentine party, Put Art in Your Heart, that brings people of all ages from Hyattsville and the surrounding communities together to make valentines for area seniors. Due to COVID, the in-person event isn't happening this year and the hundreds of seniors who receive these caring notes would lose one more show of kindness to the pandemic.

Girl Scouts to the rescue! Claire and Maggie, members of Honor Cadette Troop 23007, have been volunteering at the HAP valentine event since they were old enough to use scissors! They're aware that the isolation experienced by all of us is more keenly felt by seniors in our community this year and came up with an idea to support local seniors and their troop's fundraising for activities in the new year.

How does it work? You pay for any number of boxes of cookies. The girls will deliver a box with a valentine to an area senior. You have the option to personalize the valentine (see below).

Want to make a valentine for the girls to deliver? Hand-made valentines can be mailed to Valentines HAP, 5104 42nd Ave. Hyattsville, MD 20781.

Have questions about Girl Scouts or want to buy cookies for yourself? Please contact parent Anne Baum at hyattsville@gmail.com.

How do I participate? Cookies are $5/box (so for $20, we'll hand out a box of cookies to 4 seniors; $100 a box to 20 to seniors, etc.). You can pay via the following methods:

  • Venmo (preferred) to @Anne-M-Baum (parent Anne Baum)

  • Check made out to parent Suzanne Alolga at HAP, P.O. Box 113, Hyattsville, MD 20781

  • Credit Card using the link for Square here
(note that the price is $5.46 per box to cover Square processing fees)

Please purchase cookies no later than Feb. 7th to ensure the girls have enough valentines!

Thanks for supporting girl leaders and seniors in our community!
