Hi! Welcome to my homepage!
My name is Hanwen Zhang (pronouced as HAHN-wen JAHNG). I come from Beijing, China. I am currently a Ph.D. student of Health Economics and Outcomes Research in the Health Outcomes Division at the University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy, supervised by Dr. Anton Avanceña and Dr. Jenny Spencer. Prior to my Ph.D., I earned an M.S. degree in Biostatistics at the University of Michigan and B.S. degress in Mathematics and Statistics at Purdue University.
My research focuses on developing and applying methods to inform decision-making for resource allocation in public health and healthcare. Specifically, my on-going research focus on the followings: (1) addressing health equity in cancer prevention and screening strategies through the use of simulation models and cost-effectiveness analyses, and (2) evaluating the economic burdens of diseases, pharmacotherapies and population-level interventions using data from clinical trials and secondary sources.
Outside working zone, you are more likely to find me in the Asian art section of art museums. I began practicing Chinese calligraphy at the age of six, and I consider it a lifelong devotion. I had the honor of serving as the 14th president of Purdue Chinese Calligraphy Club, where I worked to promote cultural diversity within the Greater Lafayette community. You can find my works here.
