I have a ipod touch 5th generation and i was able to download google hangouts the older version just fine and now when i went to re install it it wont let me because it says my ipod isnt compatible. Does anyone know how i can get the old version of hangouts back on my ipod touch?

It is really annoying that the mobile phone vibrates on every message arrives on google hangouts after update, how to disable it ? I mean for all messages I just don't need vibration, only sound notification is required.

There's apparently a technique Google can use to transfer microphone permission from mail.google.com to the framed page from hangouts.google.com, but I think they need to code this in -- I suspect users can't inject the permission after the fact.

I can install 73.0 or previous versions with my existing firewall settings and hangouts in gmail will work perfect. This would clearly indicate that there has been no detrimental coding change on the part of google.

I'd been holding off on reuniting with V until I could put some time aside for Phantom Liberty. So, when I learned the latest Cyberpunk 2077 2.1 update was giving us more quality time with our love interests, I couldn't resist any longer. I figured a quick fly by visit would suffice; I'd go in, load up an old save, check out the new romantic hangouts in my apartment, and leave. Little did I know that five minutes was all it would take to ignite my desire to start over fresh and play through the adventure all over again.

Beyond this as far as I have been able to determine this is a limitation of the browser based version of hangouts (GMail, Google+, etc.). Each time I tested this implementation the only time I got any noticeable notification was if I already had a chat started and in some way active. New chats and messages sent when Window was not the active window we not present.

Until Google finds a better method for the browser based versions of hangouts you may wish to install the apps version by going to the Hangouts homepage and selecting the Computers option for installation.

I wasn't able to do any extensive testing, but the issue of notifications not showing seemed to be resolved in the short term (I tested with a co-worker by having him send me messages with the hangouts window both closed, open, and minimized).

Checking for installation path stopped working when Google started shipping devices with hangouts installed into the ROM part. I guess the original Nexus 5 ROM includes the new hangouts app in the ROM. Further updates will be installed in user space.

I'm not sure with the first part checking for com.google.android.apps.babel package.

The decoded AndroidManifest.xml of my N4's hangouts app shows a packageName="com.google.android.apps.babel". But the PackageManager throws a NameNotFoundException.

Maybe you can just drop that first part completely.

Since Gtalk will not be upgraded even more, you can relay in this method to identify it, another approach could be always send your user to the market if their hangouts app isn't the last one (or a few versions). ff782bc1db
