As a student at Costa Mesa High School, I did various things for my teachers that incorporated my engineering skills.
Wiring and Rebuilding
As a member of the CMHS Marching Band, I was responsible for fixing all broken wires on amplifiers and figuring out how to use new software on electronic instruments. In addition, I also rebuilt many broken instruments such as marimbas and props.
This robot had a lot of intricate wiring, and it was the first time I got to apply my soldering knowledge and electrical circuits.
Teacher's Robot
One of my English teachers had a robot toy from her son that was broken. A passion of mine is to create things or build things that made others happy, and I jumped on this opportunity to fix it for her.
I realized that the problem with this robot was a couple of dislodged wires from usage. In addition, I did a couple tests and confirmed that the battery was also not recharging.
Chinese Model
My mandarin teacher wanted to build temple characters out of paper; however, I realized that these standing structures would not last. Using laser-cutting, I quickly cut wood models that were more structurally comprehensive.
Doorstop
My AP Government teacher had always complained about never getting another doorstop from our school district. I saw this as another way to practice 3D printing and play around with how the slope affects friction on the bottom for an effective doorstop!
