Many companies offer security at four distinct levels: free antivirus, feature-enhanced commercial antivirus, security suite, and cross-platform top-tier mega-suite. Avast has streamlined that pattern, with just free Windows and macOS protection apps plus the all-inclusive Avast Premium Security. Both Avast Premier and Avast Internet Security have departed from the lineup. The full cross-platform suite offers rich protection for Windows and Android, less for macOS, and very little for iOS. This suite is good at what it does, but you can do better when it comes to getting full protection across all platforms.
On Windows, this suite looks almost identical to the free antivirus product. The main Status page features a big notification saying, "You're protected," with a button to launch a Smart Scan. A simple menu down the left side lets you switch from the Status page to view features related to Protection, Privacy, and Performance. The main difference from the free edition is that suite-specific features aren't locked away.
Avast Free Antivirus comes with Avast's full arsenal of malware protection, plus a useful collection of bonus features. It's one of our Editors' Choice products for free antivirus, and naturally this suite includes all the same protective features. For software with good overall security scores and additional features such as Email Guardian and Ransomware Shield, the prices are reasonable. Other antivirus products cost two and three times that, though they may offer more features for the money.
Using the scanning features was easy, and there were no issues with either Deep Scan or Smart Scan. For more specific scanning, Avast offers a Targeted Scan where you can select only the files or folders you want to check. If you use external devices, the antivirus also includes External Storage Scan.
With antivirus, it's important to review third-party test results for an unbiased look at how the software works. AV-TEST is an independent organization that tests and rates antivirus software in realistic scenarios against real-world threats. It tests antivirus for protection, performance and usability with a maximum of 6.0 points in each category.

I completed the process and got an paid confirmation email moments later with 1 year for $71.88.
