Gyan Sarovar Library ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Gyan Sarovar Library mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our App.
a. Account Information When you register, we collect your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and password. If you are a minor, we also collect your parent/guardian's name and contact number.
b. Session & Booking Information We collect data related to your library sessions, including check-in/check-out times, shift preferences, selected plan type, payment method, and overtime records.
c. Location Data
Foreground Location: When you log in, we collect your precise location to verify that you are physically present at the library premises (within 50 meters).
Background Location: After you log in, the App collects your location data in the background, even when the app is closed or not in use. This is used solely to detect when you leave the library premises (beyond 50 meters) and automatically end your session. You will be shown a prominent disclosure and asked for explicit consent before background location access is enabled.
d. Device Information We collect basic device information such as your app version for compatibility and support purposes.
e. Locally Stored Data We use on-device storage (AsyncStorage) to save your login session, last known location, and monitoring status. This data remains on your device and is cleared when you log out.
We use the information we collect to:
Verify your physical presence at the library before allowing session check-in
Automatically log you out when you leave the library premises, ensuring accurate session tracking
Manage your library membership, shifts, and bookings
Facilitate account recovery (using your registered email and phone number)
Display session history, including time spent and overtime calculations
Maintain app functionality and provide customer support
The App accesses your location in the background only while you have an active library session. Specifically:
Your location coordinates are compared against the library's fixed coordinates to calculate distance
If you move more than 50 meters from the library, your session is automatically ended
Your location data is not stored on any server, tracked over time, or used to build a movement profile
Background location monitoring stops immediately when your session ends or you log out
You can deny background location permission at any time; the only consequence is that automatic session logout will not work and you will need to log out manually
Firebase Authentication is used for secure account management
Cloud Firestore is used to store your account profile and session/booking records
Data is transmitted over secure, encrypted connections
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties

We do not share your personal data with any third parties for marketing, advertising, or analytics purposes. Your location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to external parties.
Your account data is retained as long as your account is active
Session and booking records are retained for library record-keeping purposes
Locally stored data (login state, location cache) is cleared upon logout
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us
Our App may be used by minors for library access. For minor users, we collect a parent/guardian name and contact as part of the registration process. We do not knowingly collect more data from children than is necessary for the library session management features described above.
You have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings
Opt out of background location monitoring (automatic logout will be disabled)
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any significant changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
