Missouri FBLA-PBL hosts over 40 conferences a year, and while they all focus on our crest of service, education, and progress, they don't all offer competitive events for your members. Below is a description of the conferences that do offer competitive events for students. Additional information is available in the Competitive Event Handbook, to be released September 1.
District Leadership Conference (FBLA only)
- There are 20 FBLA Districts, each which hosts their own competitive event conference.
- Students are only competing with members in their District for advancement to SLC.
- These are one day conferences.
- Objective tests are taken home site.
- Performance events are held on site at the DLC.
- Some performance events have a pre-qualifier (test or prejudged submission)
- The top 5 winners are recognized at an Awards of Excellence ceremony.
- The top 5 in objective events advance to SLC.
- The top 2 in skills events advance to SLC.
- The top 1 in performance events advance to SLC.
States Leadership Conference (FBLA, PBL, and Middle Level)
- Each division hosts a separate State Leadership Conference.
- The top students from each DLC are invited to compete against each other at SLC.
- For Middle Level and PBL, SLC acts as the first contest with no pre-requisite contest in order to attend.
- Middle Level and PBL are one day conferences.
- FBLA is a three day conference.
- Objective tests are taken home site.
- Performance events are held on site at the SLC.
- Some performance events have a pre-qualifier (test or prejudged submission).
- Some events have a preliminary and final round.
- The top 10 winners are recognized at an Awards of Excellence ceremony.
- The top 4 in all events advance to NLC, except Who's Who (top 1 only).
National Leadership Conference (FBLA, PBL, and Middle Level)
- PBL hosts an NLC, followed by FBLA and Middle Level's joint NLC.
- The top students from each SLC across the country are invited to compete against each other at NLC.
- Each conference is four days long.
- Objective tests are taken on site at NLC.
- Performance events are held on site at NLC.
- Role play events have a pre-qualifer (test score) to perform.
- In all other performance events, there is a preliminary and final round.
- The top 10 winners are recognized at an Awards of Excellence ceremony.
- Depending on the sponsor, various cash prizes are awarded by event.
- All events are sponsored.
