Guitar Gadgets is a compilation of "false" analog guitar pedal simulations, made to be used mainly with electric guitars and guitar amp simulations, but which may be sound interesting in any situation. The focus here wasn't to design classic effects, but weird, strange, ugly or "different" ones instead.

You can also chain up to 4 gadgets in the same plug-in instance, and use the right click on any control to assign it to any MIDI Control Change (MIDI Learn). Moreover, you have an access to an extra HOT switch, which brings additional warmth to all the audio effects.

Tried all fixes I can find online and cubase user manual but simply cannot get this to work, only get dry guitar no matter what I try. I am a newby so easy instructions appreciated! I am on Windows 11 with M-TRack Duo interface. Electric guitar plugged in set to mono in, stereo out. Chose audio track and insterted vst amprack, picked distortion, activated effect. Monitor and record enable buttons make no difference. If i run guitar through same physical set up on Bias FX its woks but this is outside of cubase - just proving I have everything connected correctly. Hopeing there is a magic setting somewhere hidden away, any help gratefully received!

Thanks for you help. The M-Track duo has Direct mono/Direct Stereo and USB output options. I think I need USB but switching to this still changes nothing. I dont see any input signal in cubase from my guitar either which seems wrong. If you have any other ideas I would be grateful.

Hi Knopf, many thanks, I have changed my inputs and now I see signal in and out so some progress. However the guitar soud is still dry even though I have done all I can to have the amp and effects turned on. I will try to load a screen shot.

Is it intentional that you have the amp in an own FX track? Normally these kind of plugins are inserted in the audio track. The way you set it up you are applying the amp fx in parallel. That is, you will hear direct guitar sound and processed sound in parallel and you will need to find a good blend between both.

I have an electric guitar and an m-audio preamp-usb and would like to use my laptop to record music as well as listen to what I am playing. I would also like to use it as an effects processor.  have an amp but no effects or overdrive.

I've used 3 effects applications till now: Amplitube podfarm and guitar rig 5. The best software I found so far is guitar rig the sound it gives is amazing it has some pretty good presets and it has an intuitive interface I recommend trying out demos of every software to see which better suits you. I recommend guitar rig. I would suggest using a PC instead of a laptop because they're processor intensive. Anything that's part of the is series is great (i3 i5 i7). Good luck and remember to get asio4all drivers google it and get the newest drivers

I am using Ableton Live 9 with my electrical guitar (through a sound interface like yours) and I think that is a good setup. In Live I can easily use effects as Looper and map that to some midi-pedal or similar, to get it to act as a real guitar pedal. I'd recommend that!

Thanks for the reply, its much appreciated...........I figured it out, I actually had the guitar effects(FH3) on mute when I was playing the track back so I didn't hear them. I unmuted and that sorted.....I didn't realise that the effects had to be unmuted on Playback....another learning curve!

[Philip] also had to do a lot of extra work to port the software to the Pi which lacks a lot of the features of its original intended hardware on a Mac or Windows machine, and the results are impressive, especially at the end of the video where he uses the interface to play a drum machine via his guitar. And, while MIDI is certainly a powerful application for a guitarist, we have also seen the Pi put to other uses in this musical realm as well.

It is not that fast but it is fast enough for real time performance. 15ms is not totally out of line compared to any other guitar effects processors. Guitarist often use lots of elements in their processing chains so 15 ms is probably not that alien to them. I am not sure I understand the premise of the article in that the author is attempting to reduce delay while he is porting from PC and MAC to the RASPI Pico. More compact for sure but way less powerful so it would seem hard to improve delay with it.

What the guy seems to be doing is playing a note on the guitar, using something like an FFT to figure out the fundamental frequency, and then turning that into a MIDI note to send to other instruments.

The delay comes from sampling the input from the guitar and detecting the note played. The two parts of that delay are the buffer size needed for accurate enough pitch detection and time to perform the pitch detection algorithm.

Description in article makes the mistake when referring to a one way flow of whatever is topic. MIDI to guitar would be a player guitar including acoustic being played by solenoids and drivers being fed MIDI. There was someone featured here that made such an instrument.

When David Bowie died back in 2016, we were thinking about him a lot here at Original Fuzz. There were many poignant tributes to him during that period, but none of them really taught me anything new until we heard the Sound Opinions Bowie tribute show, which has a great nugget about how Robert Fripp got the iconic guitar sound on "Heroes." 0852c4b9a8
