The decision to withdraw from study is a significant one. You may find your situation changes and you are not able to continue as planned. It is worth looking into the reasons why you are considering withdrawing from your course of study. Departmental program coordinator and advisor may help you in this regard.
By the approval from program coordinator, department chairperson and dean of the faculty, you can apply for a credit transfer.
For specific course advice, the Course Coordinator or Administrative Officer for your course can help. Contact details for people who can advise you on the requirements of your course are available on the course advice details webpage.
You need to have pre-registration before you can register in classes.
To register in classes:
Log in to the Student portal using your Student ID and password.
Select the ‘pre-registration ’ tab. All available courses will be displayed on the timetable grid. You have to select the courses to complete the pre-registration.
After completing pre-registration at a scheduled time you have to sit with your advisor and do registration to take the courses.
To register for online classes:
Use your google classroom code which will be given by your course instructor.
Please note that attendance at some classes forms part of the assessment for the topic. In the event that you have selected topics that have clashing class times, the Student System will allow you to 'clash' classes, register in two classes at the same time for different topics, for example a lecture for one topic and a tutorial for another.
If you wish to pursue this course of action, it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the attendance requirements for your topics. This may require you to attend a repeat lecture, or if the lecture is recorded, watch or listen to the lecture at a later stage (recordings will be made available on google classroom). To check whether your lecture will be recorded, contact your lecturer or topic coordinator.
If the lecture will not be recorded, you will need to contact a class representative regarding your options.
You may apply for Special Consideration when the only class you can attend is unavailable to you (due to being full). Students who can attend at alternative times need not apply.
You must also include one of the following reasons for requesting Special Consideration with your request:
Class between core topic classes
Part-time student
Medical/disability
You can enrol in additional topics, withdraw from courses or change courses (subject to availability) at any time on or before the last day to add or withdraw topics. For that you have to talk to your advisor and make the changes that you want.
Enrolment may be accepted after the last day to add topics but prior to the census date only if special approval is obtained.
If you wish to withdraw from a topic, you must do this before the deadline date to avoid incurring amounts or tuition fees. If you withdraw from a topic after the deadline you will incur amounts or tuition fees.
Once a class is full when all places have been taken and there are no places identified as being available at a future date. You can talk to that particular course teacher if the teacher permits you to be admitted on that course after completing registration by your advisor.
You will need to decide whether it is worth waiting for your preferred class, or better to choose another class that you can attend. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have successfully registered in all classes (even if they are not your first choice) before your classes commence.
Remember - You are able to change your class registration up until the last day to add topics or register in classes.
Once you withdraw from a topic, you will be automatically unregistered from all classes associated with the course.
However, unregistering from classes will not withdraw you from a topic. If you wish to withdraw from a course, kindly contact your advisor.
Enrolment in topics may be accepted after the last day to enrol if special approval is obtained. If you are seeking enrolment after the last day to enrol has passed, you will need to submit an application to support requesting late enrolment in the topic. If you have already received written approval from the Coordinator for late enrolment.
Once all relevant information is provided, your request will be assessed and you will be notified of the outcome.
If approved, enrolment will be actioned on your behalf, however it is your responsibility to contact the relevant advisor to be registered in course activities (lectures, tutorials, workshops).
Note: Enrolments can not be processed after the deadline.
You can swap courses in the due time. To change your course talk to your advisor if seats are available on that particular course then you can join that course or else you cannot swap.
Search the University's departmental facebook pages information for details of your course classes. You can also check the degree planner and take suggestions from your mentees or advisor for further help.
Yes!
In order to provide all students with fair access to classes, some topics will be released progressively over the period of enrolment. This ensures students who are provided access at an earlier date do not get all of the ‘first choice’ class registrations.
Only a certain number of places may be available in each class at any point in time. The remaining places will be made available at a later date and this will be communicated via the Student System. Please make sure you check whether the class you are trying to register in will have additional places released in the future.
It is advisable to register into your second preference class and either finalise your timetable now, or return on the date advised to try and get your first preference. It is not advisable to remain unregistered as there is no guarantee that you will be able to get your first preference when returning.
If all places have been released and you are not able to attend any of the available classes and special circumstances apply, you can request special consideration. Contact your supervisor to make your application. Please note that special circumstances will not be considered until all places have been released.
