Grounded Weight is designed to reduce anxiety around daily weight fluctuations by focusing on long-term trends rather than short-term scale changes.
This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and the choices you have regarding your information.
Information We Collect
1. Account Information (Sign-In)
If you sign in using Google or Microsoft, we collect:
Your email address
This is used to associate your account with your cloud backups.
Authentication is handled by Google or Microsoft. We do not collect or store your password.
2. Fitness and Nutrition-related Data You Enter
Grounded Weight allows you to log and store:
Scale weight entries (saved by day)
Maintenance calorie values (saved by day)
Target calorie values (saved by day)
Meals logged daily (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) and their calorie values
Exercises logged daily, including intensity, duration, and estimated calories burned
Optional inputs used for calculations (if provided or saved on your device):
Age
Height
Sex
Activity level
Other calculation preferences or adjustment settings
3. Derived Data (Calculated by the App)
The app calculates additional values derived from your entries, including:
Grounded Weight (a smoothed estimate intended to reduce the impact of short-term water-weight fluctuations)
Confidence indicators and trend values
These derived values may be stored locally and included in cloud backups.
4. Analytics
Grounded Weight uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage information such as:
App feature usage
Interaction patterns
General device and app version information
This information is used solely to improve app performance and usability.
Grounded Weight does not display ads and does not sell user data.
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used to:
Provide weight tracking and trend calculations
Automatically back up and restore your data when signed in
Improve app functionality and stability
We do not sell your personal data.
Data Storage
Local Storage
Your data is stored locally on your device using app storage systems, which may include a SQLite database and device-based preference storage. Certain optional inputs and settings may be saved on your device if you choose to enable this feature.
Cloud Backup (Firebase Cloud Firestore)
If you are signed in with Google or Microsoft, your data is automatically backed up daily to Firebase Cloud Firestore.
You may also manually trigger a backup within the app.
Cloud backups are associated with your authenticated account.
Firebase provides encryption in transit and at rest.
Access to your backup data is restricted to your authenticated account using Firebase security rules.
Data Sharing
We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the app:
Google or Microsoft (for authentication)
Google Firebase (for cloud backup and analytics)
We do not share data with advertisers.
Your Choices
Delete All Data
Users may delete all stored data at any time by using the in-app “Delete All Data” option located in the app settings.
This action will:
Permanently delete locally stored data, including saved preferences and optional inputs
Permanently delete associated cloud backup data from Firebase
Uninstalling the app may not remove local data and will not automatically remove cloud backups unless deleted from within the app.
Data Retention
Your data is retained only as long as it remains in your app or associated cloud backup. You may delete it at any time using the in-app deletion option.
Children’s Privacy
Grounded Weight is not intended for children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The effective date will reflect the latest version.
