V: CHILDHOOD / TAG: A HOUSE THAT'S NOT A HOME.
everything that happens from the time regulus is born to the time he goes to hogwarts; anything pertaining to his parents and upbringing with sirius and the black sisters would probably happen in this verse. my canon for orion black is that he is an alcoholic because of several factors that happen both within and outside of his marriage to walburga, and this greatly effects how he both sees and treats his children. walburga is both the primary caretaker of her sons and the primary offender when it comes to the abuse the black brothers suffer.
V: HOGWARTS / TAG: FEAR OF BEING LEFT BEHIND.
takes place between the years of 1972 to 1979, when regulus was attending hogwarts; this verse follows the canon thread that he was sorted into slytherin. regulus becomes a seeker on the quidditch team in his fourth year, though he never manages to become captain, and a prefect in his sixth year. in my canon, i write that sirius ran away the summer between regulus' forth and fifth years (sirius' fifth and sixth years), which coincided with the summer that orion suffered a heart attack and passed away. this was also the summer that regulus was forced to get the dark mark as a show of faith after his brother was blasted from the family tree.
V: FIRST WAR / TAG: SILENCE IS AN ANSWER TOO.
takes place after regulus has graduated hogwarts up until his canonical death in the cave. in basically all versions of this verse, i write regulus as being very reluctant in his part of the war, mostly doing what he needs to in order to survive. he does not enjoy it and never will; regulus only chose to join the death eaters because he knew that his mother's alternative was to hunt sirius down.
V: LORD BLACK / TAG: KILL THE MONSTER; SAY IT'S NAME.
one of two verses where regulus survives the cave; in this verse, after surviving the cave, regulus goes into hiding - allowing everyone, including his brother and friends, to believe that he is dead, all while secretly passing information along to dumbledore about the inner workings of the death eaters. with his help, the potters and/or longbottoms are saved and the traitor in the order is revealed to be peter pettigrew. regulus resurfaces around the same time that his mother kicks the bucket, in roughly 1985, to claim his inheritance and the property of grimmauld place, taking his proper place as the lord black with permission from his paternal grandfather, arcturus - who, miraculously, is still living. regulus takes the ancestral seat on the wizengmot when it is required of him but otherwise works - needlessly, according the some, as the blacks are an old and power family who don't particularly have the need to work - at st. mungo's as a curse consultant and specialist healer. pieces of this verse can be further plotted out or erased entirely; this is just what i consider to be canon by default to this verse.
V: PROFESSOR BLACK / TAG: BLEED FOR BETTER REASONS.
two of two verses where regulus survives the cave; after survive the cave, regulus contacts a member of the order - most often, this member is remus lupin, james potter, or sirius black, but i am open to discussing anyone else it could have been - to inform them of the horcruxes early enough to maybe do some good. regulus does not report the order spy, believing that he will be able to stop anything from happening before it is too late - he is wrong. Β the war ends sooner, though not all the horcruxes are so easily found, and afterwards, regulus accepts a teaching position at hogwarts where he teaches newt level potions. the second war comes along; harry potter starts hogwarts; his brother escapes azkaban; the dark lord comes back; regulus' house is taken over by order members; the department of mysteries happens, where regulus falls along with his brother. pieces of this verse can be further plotted out or erased entirely; this is just what i consider to be canon by default to this verse.
V: GRYFFINDOR / TAG: I AIM TO BE LIONHEARTED.
an alternate version of regulus' hogwarts years where he is sorted into gryffindor. while he and sirius are not disowned because of their sorting, the longer regulus spends with his older brother and his brother's friends, the more open he is to accepting other people's ideas of what's correct and what's not. this version of regulus follows when sirius runs away to the potters - though whether or not both brothers get disowned is up to the plot, because there was always supposed to be a heir and a spare and now walburga has lost both. pieces of this verse can be further plotted out or erased entirely; this is just what i consider to be canon by default to this verse.
