A Brief Bio
Hi there, my name is name is Griffin and here's a little bit about me.
I hold a Ph.D. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Lehigh University, received in 2025 under the supervision of the department chair Prof. Luis Nunes Vicente, and I am a former member of the Optimization & Machine Learning (OptML) research group in the Industrial & Systems Engineering Department therein. Before pursuing a Doctorate degree, I received a Master of Science in Management Science & Engineering from Lehigh University in 2021 and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics, along with a Minor in Computer Science, from Utah Valley University in 2020.
My research interests are in the fields of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Optimization. My dissertation research focused on developing, analyzing, and implementing stochastic methods for solving multi-level and multi-objective optimization problems, which have many large-scale applications in machine learning, cybersecurity, and the defense industry. Other research topics I have worked on and am passionate about include general nonlinear optimization, global optimization, automated machine learning (AutoML), data mining, statistical analysis, causal inference, and analysis of algorithms.Â
I served as President of the Lehigh INFORMS Student Chapter and was a recipient of the ISE Ph.D. Student of the Year award during the 2023-2024 academic year. As an incoming graduate student at Lehigh, I was also awarded the Lawrence E. White Fellowship in 2020 to pursue a Master's degree.
When I'm not working on research, I enjoy spending time with my amazing wife exploring the quaint coffee shops and bookstore. In my spare time, I also enjoy playing the piano, exercising, and studying the core branches of philosophy: logic, epistemology, metaphysics, and axiology. I may keep an updated journal / blog of this journey in the "Logos" tab.
