Dear Elden,
Why haven’t you answered my missives yet? I’ve sent one by raven and one on foot by messenger. I know you’ve never cared much for your correspondence but the least you can do is ask Maester Khrone to send me a quick note or something. Clearly you’ve been getting mine since you sent all the cheese that I asked for! Though a tad too late. We’re going to be eating cheese with everything for weeks.
Lady Sorena’s wedding was a beautiful affair. Do not tell our sister, but even I found myself getting a little misty-eyed during the ceremony. I love our dear sister, but I don’t think she’d ever let me live it down. Also, if you tell her, I’m sure she will somehow manage to also find out who used to stuff her pillow cases with sheep dung in the summertime. Just saying.
Anyway.
There are things - really, truly important things - that I need to talk to you about that I can’t put into writing. Which is why I am invoking my authority as the Lady of Grassfield Keep - as well as cashing in on my “I.O.U. ONE FAVOR” coupon you gave to me for my birthday last year and ask this one favor of you:
You must come to meet me on the road.
If you cannot come to Brightwater in a fortnight then make sure Grassfield Keep is prepared to host an entourage on its return journey from King’s Landing. Or you will join me at Brightwater Keep for at least a fortnight after our party has returned from King’s Landing (which I understand we’ll likely be visiting again in about a month’s time). I don’t exactly know why. Well, that’s not true. Tonight, a dear friend told me exactly why we might be required to travel to King’s Landing.
Did you know that Horn Hill has burned down, brother? Don’t you find it interesting that such a long-standing house build of massive amounts of stone burned to the ground?
Lady Tarly and I spoke of exchanging recipes earlier today. She spoke about some egg dishes that I think our Cook would rather like. Though perhaps a bit more on the spicier side than we’re used to in Grassy Vale. Save for the incident with the Lannisters and the Dragon Queen along the trade roads.
And this is precisely why you must come to Brightwater. Your most favorite sister begs you, insists you, commands you.
Yours, of course, forever,
Aureilya Elizabette Meadows
