I could not be any prouder of the campaign we ran. Your support is what makes a campaign even possible and to have that support so robustly is an honor I will treasure always. I have loved getting to know you and look forward to continuing to build on the relationships we’ve formed throughout this process.
To have only lived here for four years (part of that being in the pandemic and partially pregnant/with a newborn), only deciding to run in June, and to still get 40% of the vote means that my priorities and vision connected with the people of Ward 7. Your voice matters. Please continue to make your voice heard with our new Ward Councilor, Matty Sargent, reachable at (757) 419-7305.
I want to say thank you to everyone who supported me. Thank you for sharing your concerns and helping me shape a targeted platform to best serve our Ward. Thank you for coming out to my events, helping me pass out flyers, donating, and spreading the word. Thank you for taking the time to vote.
I had a rowing coach who told us to take the hardest thing we’ve done and put it in our back pocket. That way the next time you are faced with something hard you can take out all the hard things you’ve ever done and remember that this is just one of so many you’ve overcome.
The issues I was fighting for don’t end with the campaign. We still need to focus on schools, public safety, and a plan for the city. This loss is a comma, not a period. These changes still need to happen and I will be looking to the many organizations, councils, commissions, and nonprofits for opportunities to continue addressing these issues.
I hope you’ll join me for whatever comes next and keep in touch!
Most sincerely,
Greta
Greta Lofgren
Former Candidate for Ward 7 City Council
Committed to buidling and serving community in Marlborough
I’m running for city council because I believe in the power of community. When I walk my daughter to the park, I push the stroller over the potholes in the streets. When I talk to my neighbors, I hear their frustrations. I’m running because I believe we can do better—together.
I’ve spent my career bringing people together to solve problems. As a certified project manager and operations manager, I know how to build trust, meet deadlines, and deliver results. Now, I want to bring that same focus to our city.
My priorities are simple: quality education, public safety, and a plan for the city that serves our residents today and in the future. As your ward representative I will always be an ear for every problem we face, and take action to fix what needs fixing. Let’s build a city that works for all of us.
Quality education for all our children
Public safety, including a fourth fire station for our city, roads, speeding, and safer streets
Responsible growth that meets our community’s needs
Parks that work for families of all ages
Businesses run by locals providing jobs to locals
I know what it's like to move issues to the forefront of political leaders minds and be persistent until changes are made. I worked for the nonprofit foundation Advancement of Medical Technologies which was funded as a budget line item through the Massachusetts State House budget. It took running an aggressive advocacy campaign each year to insure our inclusion and continued funding, as well as providing the proof that our efforts to reduce prostate cancer and educate more men on the prevention opportunities and risks were working.
It was a great event, a wonderful chance to speak with so many of you, and enjoy a beautiful fall day with games and good food.
