Facts about our islands

Greenland is the world's largest island (2,166,086 km2 ) with population about 56 483 citizens. Greenland is an autonomous constituent country within the Kingdom of Denmark. Official language - greenlandic. Capital - Nuuk.

Saaremaa is the largest island in Estonia (2,673 km2 ) with population 33 307 situated in Baltic Sea. Official language - estonian. The largest city on Saaremaa is Kuressaare. Duke Magnus (brother of Danish King Frederik II) granted Kuressaare (then Arensburg) a city rights in 1563.

Faroe islands is an archipelago between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic. The islands are an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark. Their area is about 1,400 km2 with a population of 50,322. Official languages: faroese, danish. Capital - Tórshavn.
