GreenClusivity
Ecology without gender boundaries
GreenClusivity is a three-year international project co-funded by the European Union.
Four organizations are cooperating on the project:
Gender Information Centre NORA, o.p.s. (Brno, Czech Republic)
the Czech Women's Lobby (Prague, Czech Republic)
EnviroStopa (Zvolen, Slovakia)

Why are we doing this?
Although the link between gender and environmental issues has long been established globally and plays a significant role in shaping strategic decisions, this topic is only starting to gain recognition in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Italy. The connection between gender and environmental issues is crucial, as numerous studies (UN, WHO) indicate that women face increased risks associated with climate change. These impacts include higher vulnerability to disasters, limited access to resources, and specific barriers to recovery after crises.
According to UN statistics, women exhibit stronger environmentally concious behaviors than men, and their greater participation in politics and STEM fields has a proven positive effect on the implementation of sustainable policies. For example, the Human Rights and Climate Change Resolution (2008) demonstrated that gender-equal approaches to decision-making lead to more robust and sustainable environmental solutions in the long run. Yet, women remain underrepresented in these fields. Therefore, the project places particular emphasis on engaging young women in STEM disciplines.
The project also responds to the lack of relevant data in these states. While global studies show direct links between environmental issues and gender inequality, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Italy lack specific analyses and materials that are accessible and practically useful. Without sufficient data, it is impossible to develop strategies that respond to today's complex challenges effectively.
This project aims to bridge the gap between local and global approaches to ecofeminism and support sustainable change by connecting with international partner organizations, enabling us to share best practices and transfer acquired experiences to a broader context.
What are the project goals?
Raise awareness about the intersection of gender and environmental issues amongst politically active people, teachers and educators and the general public;
Support young women in STEM fields and decision-making processes, contributing to greater inclusion and equality;
Create tools for working with diversity and inclusion topics in the education sector;
Develop strategic documents that will serve as a guide for advocating for gender-sensitive approaches in environmental policy;
Support inclusive strategies in the European context by translating the outputs into English and other languages;
Develop a methodology that will educate on the intersection of gender and environmental issues;
Expand educational methods to include topics like artificial intelligence, intersectionality, and practical activities that promote critical thinking;
Network organizations at the European level (e.g., NEON, EWL).
How will we achieve this?
By creating space for education and collaboration among politically active individuals on the topic of ecofeminism;
By enhancing the competencies of educators who have a direct impact on the education and motivation of young people, especially women, to engage in environmental and STEM topics;
By developing analytical materials and infographics as a basis for policy and education;
By building a community of individuals interested in ecofeminism through conferences, online activities, and awareness campaigns.
What can you expect from the project?
Desk report in four European languages
Interesting infographics in four European languages
Gender and Environment lobbying-working group
Methodological guide for educators in four European languages
A community of people and a collaborative sharing of ecofeminism ideas on an Instagram profile
National and international conferences and workshops in in-person and also on-line option.
