8 Day Guatemala Adventure

Trip Details

What's the cost?

• $1,499 based on double occupancy

What's included?

• 7 nights of lodging: 3 nights in Antigua, 1 night on Acatenango Volcano & 3 nights in Lake Atitlan 

• 7 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 4 dinners

• 4 morning yoga sessions

• Ground and water transportation in Guatemala between destinations (including airport transfer*, but excluding airfare)

• Guided overnight volcano hike

• Guided tour of artisan cooperatives of a village on Lake Atitlan

• Traditional Guatemalan cooking class

• Guided Coffee Plantation Tour

• A balance of both support and freedom throughout each step of this adventure with us.​

​Sample Itinerary

Saturday: 

• Arrive, airport pickup, shuttle to Antigua, welcome group dinner, explore city at night

Sunday:

• Yoga, breakfast, coffee plantation tour, lunch on your own, museums and ruins (on your own or with a trip leader), dinner on your own

Monday:       

• Yoga, breakfast, traditional Guatemalan cooking class with lunch included, salsa class, dinner on your own 

Tuesday:

• Breakfast, begin volcano hike (lunch and dinner on hike)

Wednesday: 

• Sunrise summit, breakfast, finish volcano hike, shuttle to Lake Atitlan, group dinner

Thursday:

• Yoga, breakfast, swimming, relaxing, lunch on your own, optional kayak/SUP rentals, dinner on your own

Friday:

• Yoga, breakfast, lake tour of artisan village including group lunch, return to hotel for relaxing, group dinner

Saturday:

• Breakfast, shuttle back to the airport

How big will the group be?

• We are limiting the group size to 12 guests.

Who will be our guides?

• Two Great Laurel Adventures staff (including me) will be with you throughout the trip.  There will be additional local guides for the lake tour and volcano tour and shuttle drivers.

Can I come by myself, with a friend, with a few friends?

• Yes!  To all of the above, as long as you are open to meeting new people and building community, then you and/or your group is welcome.

Is Guatemala safe?

• Both Antigua and the towns around Lake Atitlan that we will be visiting are generally very safe. However, safety can never be 100% guaranteed, it is always a good idea to use common sense while traveling.

What if my flight doesn’t arrive or leave within the scheduled time for the shuttle?

• We will work with you to help you arrange transport (there may be an additional cost). We’re here to help you every step of the way.

What if I want to add on extra days at the beginning or the end of the trip?

• We will work with you to help you arrange additional accomodations. We’re here to help you every step of the way.

What if I am traveling by myself, but I would like to share a room?

• We will do our best to find someone else coming that is also looking for someone to share a room with.

Is this a yoga retreat?

• This is not a yoga retreat, but 4 mornings we will have a yoga session for anyone interested.

How strenuous is the volcano hike?

• You will need a level of fitness to complete the hike. It is about 8 miles round trip with 3,500 feet of elevation gain and loss to and from the camping area. Another 2 miles round trip and 1,250 feet of elevation gain and loss to the summit (the summit is optional). We will move at the pace of the group and there will be plenty of opportunities to take breaks and rest along the way.  If you are concerned about being ready, let’s talk.

Do I need a passport?

• Yes, and it cannot expire 6 months or less than the travel dates. So, your passport would need to expire after May 22nd, 2026.

How inclusive is the term “women”?

• We welcome all women, no matter their background, including transgender women. If you identify as a woman and you are looking for community and a travel adventure, then you belong.

When is payment due?

• A $500 deposit is due when you book your trip.  The remaining balance is due by October 1st, 2025.

What is the cancellation policy?

• If someone else books the trip in your place (i.e. the trip is sold out and someone from the waiting list books in your place), full refund of payment minus $150 cancellation fee.  Otherwise, if the trip is not sold out and there is no waiting list, then the cancellation fee is your full deposit.
