Plot
The film follows the dual roles of Karthi as Rocket Raja, a small-time thief, and Rathnavel Pandian, a brave and honest police officer. Rocket Raja meets a young girl named Swetha, who claims to be his daughter. He learns that she is the daughter of Rathnavel Pandian, who looks exactly like him. Rathnavel Pandian had been fighting against a ruthless criminal named Kaatu Poochi, who had killed his wife and tried to kill Swetha. Rocket Raja decides to take on the role of Rathnavel Pandian and protect Swetha from Kaatu Poochi and his gang.

Production
The film was produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under his banner Studio Green. The director Siva had previously worked with Karthi in the 2007 film Aayirathil Oruvan. The film was shot in various locations in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. The music was composed by Vidyasagar, who had also composed the music for the original Telugu version. The film's title means "leopard" in Tamil, which refers to the ferocity of the protagonist.
Reception
The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised Karthi's performance and Santhanam's comedy, but criticized the violence and the lack of originality. The film was rated 3 out of 5 by [Rediff], 2.5 out of 5 by [Sify], and 3 out of 5 by [Behindwoods]. The film was a hit at the box office, collecting over â50 crore worldwide. The film won two awards at the 59th Filmfare Awards South: Best Actor for Karthi and Best Comedian for Santhanam.
