ABOUT GRATEGATE
GrateGate is a mindfulness and self-improvement app.
The concept is simple: before opening a distracting app
of your choice, you must first write 5 things you are
grateful for. Once completed, the app is unlocked for
the rest of the day. The challenge resets every morning
at 5 AM, encouraging a daily gratitude practice.
The goal is to help users build a lasting habit of
gratitude and mindfulness by creating an intentional
pause before mindless scrolling.
ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE
GrateGate uses Android's Accessibility Service solely
to detect when a user opens a blocked app. When detected,
the app displays the gratitude challenge screen before
granting access.
The Accessibility Service does NOT:
- Read, record, or transmit any screen content
- Access messages, emails, or personal files
- Collect any user data
- Share any information with third parties
This permission is essential for the core functionality
of the app — blocking access until gratitude is written.
No less invasive alternative exists to achieve this.
DATA STORAGE
All data (gratitude entries, streak and app settings) is
stored locally on your device only. Nothing is ever
transmitted to external servers.
PAYMENTS
Premium subscriptions ($9.99/year) are processed
entirely by Google Play Billing. GrateGate does not
handle, access, or store any payment information.
