OH MY GOSH! I love this blanket! Thank you for creating a perfect to follow pattern. I just made a "non traditional" baby blanket using 27 different colors and it came out AMAZING! I've never done granny square stripes before and I was able to whip out this blanket in a few days. I appreciate your detailed and super colorful pattern.
Just finished the Sunny granny stripe blanket. It was the first thing I'd crochetedsince I was about 12 (over 40 years ago) and it was an absolute joy thanks to the lovely colours and really great tutorial! The instructions and photos were perfect. Thank you so much for brining me back o this lovely pastime. Have a very happy 2019, Ann
Your starting chain needs to be a multiple of 3 + 2. This will be the width of your blanket or item. (See further down this article for some suggested granny stripe blanket pattern widths. For a single blanket, try 101 chains)
If you are making the single bed blanket, do a check on your stitch count. You should now have 66 granny clusters, with 1 dc at the beginning and end of the row. It is worth taking the time to do this, as it ensures that your sides are even and straight.
My personal favorite granny stripe effect is to alternate colors with white, cream, black, or any other neutral shade. So you would work 2 rows of neutral, 2 rows of color, 2 rows of neutral, 2 rows of color, and on.
I hope go move in February to a retirement home and start a craft program and I will start with the granny stitch for beginners ir whoever and to crochet, It is a supper stitch and easy to show. Thanks
As the name implies this throw blanket is crocheted up in the granny stitch. The granny stitch is similar to the granny square in that it is comprised of three double crochet clusters but are arranged in a straight line rather than in a square.
Have you always loved the classic look of crochet granny stripe blankets? I have tried to imitate the look of a crochet granny stitch with Bernat Blanket yarn in this crochet blanket. I hope you like the outcome.
I repeated this over and over, sewing one square from the next column onto each set, until my squares had become ten loooong strips, (running left to right, or horizontally, in the photo below) each containing sixteen squares. Every strip is connected to the strip next to it by the strands of sewing yarn.
Hello Heather! Thank you for inspiring me to use up my 'spare' yarn. After making some more complicated patterns, this granny cowl is perfect! I love the simple edging to finish the cowl off. I've used Bellisima for a baby blanket. You're right; it's a lovely yarn.
I follow you on Facebook and love the fact you match your makes to your mugs. Happy hooking! Best wishes Lizz
