2021 Granite Gripper Registration
Central Texas Climbing Committee and Friends of Enchanted Rock are happy to bring you the 29th annual Granite Gripper featuring our special guest Hans Florine!
Come out to Enchanted Rock and spend the weekend. Once again, we have special permission to camp at the pavilion this year.
REGISTER for the December 11 Granite Gripper. Saturday evening dinner ticket sales have closed. Due to the change from volunteers preparing the meal to it being catered, we are losing money on every ticket sold and the decision was made by Friends of Enchanted Rock to limit the number of meal tickets to 125. If you didn't register in time to get the catered meal we hope you will stick around after climbing for fun and 1) awards presentations, 2) chances to win raffle prizes, 3) bid on great silent auction gear, and 4) see and hear the presentation by Hans Florine.
Preregistration is CLOSED but you can register in person on Saturday morning in the pavilion at Enchanted Rock. See the schedule below.
If you want to make a donation to FOER, click below.
There will be separate competitions for bouldering and for roped climbing. The competitions will be judged on points based on route difficulty with 5 boulder problems or 5 roped routes. The list of boulder problems will be published well ahead of the competition so you can work on your problems. The boulder problem list will be emailed to those who preregister and can be downloaded from the bottom of this page when it is available. The route list for roped climbs will be handed out the morning of the event, as is tradition. Prizes will be awarded to top female and male finishers in the categories listed below. Gear prizes go to the top 3 in each category plus the coveted belt buckle to the top female and male in the open roped division and to the top female and male in the bouldering division.
- Youth (12 and under)
- Recreational (5.9 and under, V1 and under)
- Intermediate (5.10 and under, V3 and under)
- Advanced (5.11 and under, V5 and under)
- Open (all grades)
In addition, we have a speed climb that is open to all.
FOOD MENU: Breakfast tacos and coffee available on Saturday morning for donations. Snacks at the pavilion on Saturday afternoon. Saturday dinner will be catered by Rabke's Table Ready Meats of Willow City. Dinner will include fajitas (beef, chicken, grilled veggies), rice, beans, salad, cookies. Buy your meal tickets in advance so we will have enough food. Menu selections will include vegetarian and gluten-free options. FOER does not make any money on the dinner.
Camping will be at the pavilion and the cost of camping on Friday and Saturday nights is included in your registration. Camping is not allowed in RVs, trailers, campers, etc. Camping only in tents.
There is extremely limited to no connectivity in the park but we will have a Square credit card reader with remote capability. Attendees may use cash, checks, or credit cards to buy anything at the Gripper, including coffee, breakfast tacos, onsite registrations and meal tickets, extra t-shirts, extra raffle tickets, and silent auction items.
DOGS: Please leave your dogs at home. Dogs are not allowed at the climbing areas and not allowed to be left in cars or tents while you climb.
