Here's the scene: You are following the recent news of the #BlackLivesMatter movement at home. Watching videos, reading posts, and hearing stories from others has now left you thinking to yourself, "I agree that change needs to happen, but what can I do?"
Adopting an anti-racist teaching philosophy and including multi-cultural materials into your curriculum can feel like a daunting task. Systemic racism feels too big for just one teacher to tackle at times.
Instead, your effort to be an anti-racist teacher can start with small, every day steps that create large ripple effects in your classroom, school, and surrounding community.
Ashley & Emma have compiled a list of their current favorite resources to help you start the ripple effect. Below, you will find a variety of sources that provide valuable information and specific actions you can take today to stand with Black lives.
This is not a comprehensive list, and definitely one that can be easily built upon, so check back to see what new resources may be added in the future. Help us build this list by contacting us with your favorite anti-racist teaching resources!
