You certainly don’t need to know everything when you apply – in fact, agencies often actually want a fresh perspective – however, it is useful to have done some background reading and research to a) show you are keen b) give you something to talk about c) because you might actually find something interesting in there!

Given you are probably trying to hold down a part-time job, or finish your degree whilst applying, make sure you focus your research to reflect what you think the agency will want to find out about you. If you’re applying to multiple agencies, collate what research is helpful for all interviews, and what’s specific to each agency so you can identify where you need to focus your efforts.
