This research-focused workshop brings together interdisciplinary perspectives on digital wellbeing in the context of immersive technologies, gaming, misinformation, and artificial intelligence. It presents findings from cross-national studies that investigate the psychological, behavioral, and social impacts of AI-powered digital environments.
The session examines how these technologies influence cognitive attention, mental health, and public trust, while identifying current gaps in ethical design and governance. By framing digital wellbeing as a critical area of inquiry, the workshop encourages evidence-based strategies for addressing the risks and responsibilities tied to emerging technologies.
Participants will collaborate across disciplines to explore how digital systems can be designed and governed to support human wellbeing in an increasingly automated and immersive world.
We welcome participants with a guiding question: What does it mean to live beyond AI? This segment introduces the session theme, outlines the format, and explains participation guidelines.
From gaming to deepfakes, AI-generated visuals influence how we think, feel, and engage with the world. This keynote explores their impact on mental health, trust, and the environment, and invites us to imagine more ethical visual futures.
How do visual technologies affect our emotional wellbeing? This panel addresses addictive design patterns, AI-driven emotional targeting, and approaches to designing for care and agency.
What are the ethical stakes of AI-generated imagery? Panelists will discuss issues like artistic appropriation, environmental impact, and cultural representation in training data.
Audience members are invited to share one-minute reflections on what values should guide the future of visual technology. Responses can be shared live or digitally.
A final summary and thank you to all participants. We’ll also share resources for continued engagement.
