This Privacy Policy describes how the browser extension Grabsta: Universal Downloader for Instagram (“Grabsta”, “the extension”) accesses, processes, and stores information when you use it.
Grabsta is designed to operate locally in your browser. The extension does not use its own backend server and does not transmit your personal information or Instagram account data to us.
Grabsta does not collect or transmit to us information such as your IP address, ISP information, browser or operating system information, browsing history, Instagram credentials, or information about the media you download.
The extension does not use analytics, telemetry, advertising trackers, or similar tracking technologies.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise provide your personal information to third parties.
To provide its download functionality, Grabsta needs to interact with Instagram on behalf of the currently logged-in user.
For this purpose, the extension may locally access and process technical information associated with your Instagram session and Instagram requests, including:
certain Instagram cookies and authentication or session-related values;
CSRF tokens and other request tokens;
request headers;
Instagram account and user identifiers;
media and post identifiers;
temporary media URLs;
other technical identifiers and parameters required to communicate with Instagram and locate or download media.
For example, some of these values may be required to make requests to Instagram’s APIs using your existing logged-in Instagram session.
This information is accessed only as necessary to provide the extension’s functionality. It is processed locally in your browser and is not transmitted to us or to any third party other than Instagram/Meta and the services used by Instagram to provide the requested content.
Grabsta does not create or use its own cookies. It may, however, access existing Instagram cookies through browser APIs when those cookies are required to communicate with Instagram.
Some technical information may be stored locally on your device using the browser’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local).
This may include:
selected request headers;
session or request-related technical identifiers and parameters required for Instagram requests;
the date of the most recent bulk media download for an Instagram profile.
The last download date is stored so that, when you download media from the same profile again, Grabsta can offer to download only media published since the previous download.
Locally stored technical information may be periodically updated or overwritten as Instagram changes the values required for its requests.
This information remains on your device and is not transmitted to us. It normally remains in the extension’s local storage until it is overwritten, cleared by the browser or user, or the extension is uninstalled.
Other information required during a download may be processed temporarily in memory without being stored persistently.
Information accessed or stored by Grabsta is used solely to provide the extension’s functionality, including:
communicating with Instagram using the user’s existing authenticated session;
locating media available for download;
downloading requested photos, videos, stories, and other supported media;
supporting bulk downloads;
remembering the date of a previous bulk download to make subsequent downloads more convenient.
The information is not used for advertising, analytics, tracking, profiling, or marketing purposes.
Grabsta does not transmit locally stored information to the developer or to external analytics, advertising, or data-processing services.
When you use Grabsta, the extension communicates directly with Instagram/Meta and Instagram’s associated content delivery services as necessary to retrieve information and download the content you request.
No personal information or locally stored extension data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Because Grabsta operates locally and does not use a developer-operated backend server, the information described above is generally kept within your browser environment.
Access to Instagram session information is limited to what is required for the extension to perform its functionality.
Grabsta is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy if the extension’s functionality or data practices change. Any updated version will be published on this page.
