GPT2Local Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

GPT2Local is a browser extension that connects user-selected local project folders with ChatGPT web conversations.

Data Access and Processing

GPT2Local accesses local files only from folders explicitly selected and authorized by the user.

The extension processes selected files locally to create ZIP archives and allows users to preview and apply changes from ZIP archives returned by ChatGPT.

GPT2Local also accesses relevant elements of ChatGPT web pages to identify downloadable ZIP files and provide its workspace synchronization interface.

Local Storage

Extension preferences, workspace associations, file selection rules, and synchronization information are stored locally in the browser using browser storage technologies.

Sharing Files with ChatGPT

When users choose to upload project files to ChatGPT, those files are transmitted to ChatGPT through its website and are subject to OpenAI's applicable privacy policies and terms.

GPT2Local is an independent extension and is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.

User Control

Users control which folders and files the extension can access.

Users can disable synchronization, change or disconnect workspaces, and review file changes before applying them.

Users can remove locally stored extension information by clearing the extension's data or uninstalling the extension.

Data Collection

GPT2Local does not operate a developer-controlled server for collecting project files or conversation content.

The extension does not sell user data or use it for advertising or creditworthiness assessments.

Third-Party Services

GPT2Local interacts with ChatGPT at chatgpt.com. Content that users submit to ChatGPT is processed according to OpenAI's applicable policies.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when the extension's functionality or data handling practices change.
