Who am I and what do I do? And most importantly, how did I end up here?!
Hi, I'm Goli—nice to meet you! I'm an aspiring scientist and a master's student in Geology. I completed my undergraduate studies at PNU in Tehran, Iran. Driven by my adventurous spirit, I pursued the opportunity to broaden my horizons and chose to study in a country with a vastly different geological landscape. This led me to the University of Wyoming (UW).
Currently, I am working with Professor Brandon McElroy and Joe Biasi on rivers. We are developing a more efficient method to locate heavy mineral placers by identifying specific patterns.
Rivers are fascinating! (Of course from my point of view!) I don't know what you think, but I'd love to hear your thoughts too! Feel free to share them with me:

So...Rivers, huh? Yes! Because I love Surface Processes. They change the planet's face and create amazing geomorphology. Anything that has a thing to do with Geomorphology, I am interested in: Surface Processes, Earth's history, Landscape Dynamics, and Landscape Evolution.
I am investigating how the shape and size of heavy minerals influence their settling velocity. Understanding settling velocity is important as it determines where and when a grain will settle in a river, potentially forming a placer deposit.
(Did you know physics is a big part of this research? I better get good at it fast! )
