In 1982, Gorb YuG graduated with honors from the Donetsk State Medical Institute named after M. Gorky. From 1982 to 1984, completed a clinical residency in the specialty "Cardiology" at the branch of the Kyiv Research Institute of Cardiology named after Acad. M.D. Strazheska (Kharkiv). In 1985, defended  candidate's thesis on the topic "Study of the effectiveness of peripheral vasodilators in the treatment of patients with chronic heart failure."

Since 1984, Gorb  YuG worked as a junior, since 1986 - a senior researcher of the department of functional diagnostics, from 1991 to 2004 - the head of this department, since 2009 he works as a leading researcher of the department of ischemic heart disease, metabolic and cardiopulmonary disorders of the  Government Institution “L.T.Malaya Therapy National Institute of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”.

Gorb YuG was a co-executor of the following research works: "To study the metabolic and genetic mechanisms of the formation of thrombotic disorders in coronary heart disease in combination with type 2 diabetes" (2014-2016); "To study the influence of circulating microribonucleic acids on metabolic and immunoinflammatory factors of atherogenesis in the combination of coronary heart disease with type 2 diabetes" (2017-2019); "To study the epigenetic factors of metabolic inflammation in the combination of coronary heart disease with type 2 diabetes" (2020-2022); Currently, he is a co-executor of the research project "To study the role of epigenetic mechanisms in the progression of immunometabolic disorders in the combination of coronary heart disease with type 2 diabetes in conditions of stress caused by military actions and their consequences" (implementation period 2023-2024).

Gorb YuG is a laureate of the academic award in the field of clinical medicine of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine in 1995 for the monograph "Chronic circulatory failure" and the award of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine named after Acad. M. D. Strazheska in 1998 for the monograph "Cardiac glycosides". In 2013, he was awarded the certificate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "For services to the Ukrainian people" In 2018, he was awarded the certificate of the National Institute of Therapy named after L.T.Malaya of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine "For a significant personal contribution to the development of medical science, the implementation of the tasks of modern medicine and on the occasion of the professional holiday - Science Day". In 2019, he was awarded an honorary certificate of the Presidium of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine "For many years of conscientious work, high professionalism, personal contribution to the development of medical science, an active public position, highly qualified medical assistance to the population and on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician L. T. Malaya". In 2019, he was awarded an honorary certificate of the National Institute of Therapy named after L.T.Malaya of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine "For many years of conscientious work, responsible attitude to the performance of official duties, personal contribution to the development of science and on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his birth ".

Gorb YuG  is the author of more than 200 scientific works, including the following monographs: "Interpretation of two-dimensional echocardiogram", "Chronic circulatory failure", "Clinical pharmacology", "Cardiac glycosides", "Non-invasive methods in pulmonology and cardiology", "Chronic heart failure: achievements, problems, prospects".
