Don't be caught unaware.
Dear reader,
The other day (in early October), I decided to take a rollerblading adventure around Lake Winona to view all the beautiful changing colors of the leaves. This is something I do frequently. However, on this day, there were a lot of fallen leaves on the trail along with small branches, which makes it a little trickier to blade.
I was rounding the corner on the big lake that is close to the hospital, and slowed down to navigate the leaves and twigs. As I began to stumble forward after rolling over a stick, a goose came up out of the grass and ran toward me, knocking me off balance.
I was horrified but in shock and unable to move.
It began to bite all my exposed skin. Luckily, I was able to push it off of me, get up, and blade away fast enough that it could not catch up to me.
I was still in shock as I rolled away. How did that just happen??
If this was the end of the story, I would not be sharing it like this.
BUT, the next day I began to feel itchy everywhere I had been bitten. I thought it would subside. But as the next few days went on, it just kept getting worse!!
The bites swelled and itched and started having puss leaking from them. (I won't post pictures because it is just absolutely revolting.) I have just felt overall sick since, always under the weather. I feel feverish and nauseated constantly now. I have no idea what to do. Nothing is helping!!
PLEASE be aware of the geese in your area. I don't know what is going on with them but something definitely is.
All my best,
A concerned and sick citizen
You may want to also be aware of ducks. They were all together at this time and place, which could mean the ducks are infected as well.
