Golondrina, a Senorita Helmsman

The Senorita Helmsman is a 32 foot Håkan Södergren design sailboat, built by Lito Marin (Finland) between 1977 and 1985. The shipyard went bankrupt and finally burned down. The Lord-, Lady and Queen Helmsman belong to the same family. The Lady is a larger (12m) variant of the Senorita. The Lord is about as long as the Senorita but has a wider hull, a longer keel and canoe stern. The Queen is 16,5m long and very rare. Resemblance between the three are a straight shaped and low hull, main width quite far to the front, low flush dek cabin and fractional rig between 6/8 and 7/8. Typical Scandinavian design, built to perform on easy waters. Targeted area are the sheltered coastal waters of Finland and Sweden. Designed with sailing capacity in mind, nothing else.

In 2007 we bought Golondrina from her Finnish owner in Helsinki. We sailed her to Germany and from there we had her transported to Holland. The next season was mainly sacraficed with repairs. Starting summer season 2009 she is sailing under Dutch flag, homeport Herkingen. These boats are head-turners, we feel proud to sail her.

Among the pictures you will find details about the replacement of the foundation for the chainplates under deck. As I was told the first series had a weak construction at this point. If you are interested in having a Senorita, check this detail. Further work on her can be seen as 'therapy' like many sailors tend to exercise in winters.
