Suspect was seen leaving a shootout, illegal gun sale, or sting operations
Authorized checkpoints (pre-authorized by command team)
Suspects have given reasonable amount of ques or evidence to be searched, but not enough to be arrested. (We understand this is a fine line, but to be a K9 officer you must use common sense and your best judgement call on every k9 deployment)
Suspects have lost the police on foot and there is reasonable suspicion they are still in the area.
K9 deployment (attack/defend)
When a suspect is pointing or aiming a weapon at officers. (civilians if it is not a hostage situation)
When suspect is trying to attack officers.
After the 10 second run on foot rule IF THEY HAVE A WEAPON OUT.
On a breach with a barricaded suspect. (Remember the dog is an officer, if you wouldn't run into it then do not send dog. If the dog goes in, you are to be behind them within reason.)
