The goals of the program are to:
Reduce severe injuries in the state.
Reduce high travel speeds roadways.
Prevent individuals from breaking the law on motorcycles or atv's on the roadway.
Increase public perception of enforcement presence with multiple solutions to everchanging criminal issues.
Bravo (Motorcycle division) is a specialized division. They are equipped with Higher performance motorcyles. These vehicles are designed to combat the high speeds witnessed by individuals on motorcyles.
Once Bravo certification is obtained from a unique driving course. Your responsibility is to stop individuals speeding, protecting the civilians from vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit.
You will be requested on scenes and 10-11's that have a motorcycle.
You will be primary on any scene or code 5 stop that involves a motorcycle. If a chase with a bike has started and you attach late, you can communicate with the other officers and move yourself to primary position.
When may you retrieve a Bravo unit from the garage?
For every 4 PD units, 1 Bravo. unit may be activated.
-You may pull out a Bravo unit if there is less than 4 units if there is a motorcycle on a robbery scene if its requested. The Bravo unit must then be returned right away after the scene is done and return to a regular patrol vehicle.
Key Notes
If a 10-80 begins in the city. And the Suspects vehicle is identified as a motorcycle or atv. You may attach and replace one of the units on the 10-80.
If there are other Bravo. Certified officers, allow them to utilize their certification as well.
Bravo units are designed to combat the bikes that are owned. Please understand, the unique tune on the certified vehicles are not to be abused.
The Bravo certification is earned. Disciplinary action will be handled if the above standard operating procedures are not followed.
If abuse of the certification is noted. You will first be warned and advised to refamiliarize yourself with the SOP's.
Second: you will be warned and made to put the H.E.A.T. Vehicle up for the shift. and refamiliarize yourself with the SOP's
Last: Further abuse of the certification with result in your certification being revoked. You may re-express interest after 30 days.
Disciplinary Actions can happen at ANY RANK. Be mindful of your SOP's no matter your position in the department.
