Despite a hot shooting night from Stephen Curry, the Warrior offense was not enough to outlast the Hawks, falling 140-134 on Monday night in Atlanta on the tail end of a back-to-back. Curry led the Warriors with 48 points, the seventh straight game that Curry has scored 30 or more points, and six assists on 8-for-12 shooting from beyond the arc.
The Warriors fell behind early in the first, trailing 44-30 at the end of the quarter before cutting the lead to 70-66 at half time. The hot shooting for both sides continued in the second half, as the Warriors rallied all the way back to take a 100-96 lead entering the fourth. Led by Trae Young (52 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists), the Hawks scored 44 in the final frame to hold on for the victory.
D’Angelo Russell continued his high-scoring season, tallying 32 points on 14 made field goals, a new season high. Draymond Green set a new career-high with 22 rebounds with eight points.
Kevon Looney returned to the Warrior lineup, scoring eight points with two rebounds and two assists on 17 minutes. It was Looney’s first game back from neuropathy that caused him to miss the last 20 games.
The Warriors’ road trip heads to Charlotte on Wednesday night to face the Hornets.
