Entering the season, the consensus opinion was that Stephen Curry would the focal point of the Warrior offense. The questions that arised from that was whether or not Curry would be able to handle the load. If the first nine games of the season are any indication, Curry is handling it just fine.
Curry erupted for perhaps his best game of the season on Friday night in Minnesota, scoring 33 points, collecting eight rebounds and dishing out 10 assists, his second double-double of the season. Through the large workload, he went 5-for-11 from three point range and 13-for-22 from the floor. Through the first 10 percent of the season, Curry owns the best three-point field goal percentage (44.2%) among all players shooting more than 8.0 three-point field goals a game (4.2-for.9.6) and is tied for second Kyrie Irving for field goal percentage (50.3%) among players who are shooting more than 20 times per game, trailing only Kawhi Leonard's 57.1 percent.
Alec Burks scored a season-high 16 points for the Warriors while Draymond Green collected more than 10 rebounds for the seventh consecutive game, a career-best.
The Warriors built up a 13-point advantage at the half, on the back of a dominant 29-15 first quarter sparked by six points from Eric Paschall. By the fourth, the Timberwolves had cut the lead to 86-79. Curry then took the game into his own hands, drilling a stepback three over Andrew Wiggins. On the ensuing possession, Curry got free off a screen and hit a second three, pushing the lead to 92-79 and giving the Warriors the cushioning they needed to hold on for the win.
