WARRIORS ROLL TO SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN

Warriors pick up their sixth straight win, the longest active winning streak in the Western Conference

With two teams who have seen plenty of one another over the last three years, the first meeting of the 2019-20 NBA season between the two teams carried plenty of intrigue. Beyond their recent history, the drastic roster makeovers for both teams had put a new look on the Western Conference Rivalry. And those new faces made an impact.

D'Angelo Russell tied his season-high scoring total with 24 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the floor, to go along with 8-for-9 from the free throw stripe, Willie Cauley-Stein posted his second consecutive double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and the Warriors used a dominant third quarter to claim a 125-113 win in Houston to kick-off the team's three-game roadtrip.

Stephen Curry again led the Warriors with 31 points, adding eight rebounds and four assists and shooting 5-for-12 from three point range. Draymond Green had 13 rebounds, tying a career-high for consecutive games with 10 or more rebounds at six.

The Warriors and Rockets traded explosive quarters in the first half, with Golden State breaking out to a 29-21 advantage at the end of the first before the Rockets reeled back in with a 42 point second quarter to make it 63-63 at the break. The lead would change hands in the third before the Warriors pulled away with a 14-2 run to end the frame and take a 96-83 lead into the fourth.

The Warriors would extend leads to 19 points in both the second and third quarters, but the Rockets went on runs of their own to pull within six points in the fourth quarter. Curry would hit a pair of late layups and a three to seal the win.

Golden State travels to Minnesota on Friday night to face the 5-1 Timberwolves.
