With the game still in doubt, Stephen Curry did everything to ensure the win was secured. Dropping consecutive three point field goals within the first minute of the quarter, and 18 points total in the fourth, Curry propelled the Warriors to their third consecutive win in a 123-79 win over San Antonio.
D'Angelo Russell put together his second consecutive double-double, scoring 18 points with 11 assists and Draymond Green scored a career high 20 points along with 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Entering the fourth quarter with an 81-68 advantage, Curry erupted. On the opening possession of the quarter, Curry took a Marquese Chriss (11 points, five rebounds, four assists) screen on the right side and immediately pulled the trigger, bottoming his third three of the game. On the following possession, Curry again used a Chriss screen, this time pulling up from the Chase Center and bottoming the three, pushing the lead to 90-68.
Curry remained hot, using a Green screen to attack the interior of the Spurs defense before laying in a contested layup.
While the Warriors three All Stars played exceptional, the play of the Golden State defense proved to be the difference. In his second appearance of the year, Alec Burks poured in 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting and a three. Chriss again proved to be a difference maker, connecting on five of his six field goals and nailing a three for the second consecutive game. In total, the Warriors bench outscored San Antonio 42-31.
The Warriors defense, a question mark coming into the season, showed signs of improvement yet again. Golden State held San Antonio to 41 percent shooting from the floor and 22 percent from beyond the arc, while hitting at 64 percent and 52 percent clips, respectively, themselves.
