Through a combination of exceptional shooting and airtight defense, the Warriors made quick work of the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning 140-94 . A far cry from the first matchup, in which the Warriors needed a late run and a buzzer-beater from Stephen Curry, the Warriors led from start to finish to sweep the season series
Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 31 points, while Jaylen Brown added 26 points and 13 rebounds. Getting his second consecutive start, Daniel Gafford again shone, scoring 10 points and adding four rebounds.
The Cavaliers managed to keep things competitive in the first half, ending the opening quarter down just two points and staying within arm’s reach for most of the second. After leading by just three points late in the second, Golden State began putting together their seemingly unstoppable run to end the frame. Kicked off by a 6-0 run, the Dubs ended the frame on a 9-4 run, topped off by a contested three from Kris Dunn, to push the lead to nine at the break.
Then midway through the third, the Warriors started to put things away. Three consecutive triples from Curry and Green pushed the lead from 10 to 14 before a 12-4 run made it a 21 point game late in the quarter.
The Warrior bench started the fourth quarter, and ensured the lead would stay put, playing the last 12 minutes of the game and outscoring the Cavs 36-16.
The Warriors wrap up their back-to-back set in Los Angeles tomorrow night to face the Lakers.
