Midway through the first quarter, the Warriors seemed to be in trouble. They had made just a single basket, and were staring at an 11-point deficit to the Brooklyn Nets, a team desperate for a win. By the end of the quarter, Golden State had managed to trim the deficit by just two, and entered the second quarter shooting less than 30 percent from the floor.
It would’ve been easy for a team riding a 12-game winning streak to fold, to call it good enough. Instead, the Warriors pieced together an effective second quarter, going on a 13-0 run over the a two minute span to flip a deficit that had at one point ballooned to 14 points into a halftime tie.
The Warriors sweet shooting continued into the third quarter, where they began the second half on a 13-2 run, sending the Dubs to a 120-102 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Stephen Curry and Jaylen Brown each finished the night with 40 points, while Curry added 12 assists and four steals while nailing six three-point field goals. Brown ended with nine rebounds while shooting 17-for-26 from the floor.
Kris Dunn led a bench unit that finished the night with 51 points by scoring 17 points with four assists and four steals. Eric Paschall had 14 points and four steals of his own and Damion Lee had 12 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting off the bench in 13 minutes.
Curry and Brown played a vital part in the Warriors second half charge, with Brown scoring the first six points of the run and Curry capping the run with the final seven, including a pair of triples. The 13-2 advantage would be part of a 23-8 stretch through the quarters first six minutes.
The Warriors shot a blistering 71 percent in the third quarter, while holding the Nets to just 46 percent. Golden State followed that up by shooting 75 percent in the fourth quarter, scoring half of their points in the paint.
Ky Bowman left the game with a sprained left elbow. He will be evaluated on Friday.
