A regular season win does little to make up for a Finals loss, but a 28-point win never hurt. Golden State routed the Toronto Raptors 130-102 on Thursday night in a rematch of the 2019 NBA Finals, led by 39 points from Jaylen Brown and 32 points from Stephen Curry. Brown and Curry each bottomed six three-point field goals a piece as the Warriors went 18-for-28 from deep.
Kris Dunn continued his exceptional play, scoring 14 points off the bench while adding six assists. Despite Glenn Robinson III (12 points, six rebounds, four assists) being the only other Warrior in double-figures, Golden State outscored Toronto 49-42 in bench scoring. The Dubs also owned a 25-3 advantage in free throw attempts as the Warrior defense stopped the Raptors from attacking the paint time and time again.
After Golden State built a 12-point lead late in the first half, Toronto stormed back, nailing three consecutive triples to cut the lead to three with 5.7 seconds left in the second quarter. Curry would provide an additional cushion, driving the length of the court and finishing over Fred Van Vleet, giving Golden State a five-point edge headed to the break.
The Warriors then mounted a typical third quarter onslaught. After Glenn Robinson III and Kyle Lowry traded triples, Curry bottomed his third three of the night, followed by an Ed Davis Dunk to send the lead back to double figures. The Raptors would chip back, cutting the lead to six after back-to-back layups from Lowry and Terrence Davis, but Curry would ensure it didn’t stay close for long. Curry drained another triple, this one kicking off 10-0 run, that sent the Warrior lead to 16 points.
Golden State put the game out of reach early in the fourth quarter, starting the final frame on a 7-2 run, extending the lead to 20 points and never looking back from there.
Golden State hosts Eastern Conference top seed Philadelphia on Saturday night.
