The Warriors wasted little time pouncing on the Phoenix Suns, kicking off the game on a 19-0 run as part of a 43-11 first quarter, laying the groundwork to a 114-82 win that. Jaylen Brown led the Golden State attack, scoring 15 points in the frame while Stephen Curry, Kris Dunn and Eric Paschall tallied seven points a piece.
With the win, the Warriors enter the All Star break as one of the NBA’s hottest teams, winners of 21 of their last 23 games since a Christmas Day loss to the Rockets. Sitting just two games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the top seed in the West, the Warriors are on pace for 67 wins, the same number of wins the organization had in the 2014-15 and 2016-17 season, both of which ended with NBA Championships.
Curry finished with just 20 points, his lowest scoring output of the season, but played just 26 minutes. Curry added 11 rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals on 8-for-15 shooting from the floor and 4-for-9 from beyond the arc. Dunn finished with 14 points, two rebounds and two assists while Paschall had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Since being acquired on February 2, Brown has found little trouble fitting into the Warrior attack. In his first five games with Golden State, Brown is averaging 26.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, including three double-doubles.
The Warriors have made a point to integrate Brown into the offense, as he is shooting 58.8% from the floor and 54.2% from beyond the arc.
Stephen Curry will be the lone Warrior representative at the All Star Game in Chicago on Sunday. The Warriors will be back in action when they host Houston in a matchup of Western elites on February 20.
