On the way out of the locker room on Saturday after watching their 15-game winning streak come to end, the Warriors were committed to putting the loss behind them and building a new winning streak. They wasted little time doing that, powering a dominant first half to a victory just two days later over the Miami Heat, winning 111-84.
Stephen Curry led the Warrior attack, which outscored the Heat 33-14 in a pivotal second quarter, with 34 points on 13-for-21 shooting, including 4-for-9 from beyond the arc, a solid comeback after a disappointing shooting night against the Lakers on Saturday.
Jaylen Brown continued his consistent play, setting a career-high with six steals while finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists, as well as three blocks. The second new arrival to the Warriors, Kris Dunn had his best game as a Dub, scoring 12 points, pulling in a pair of rebounds and dishing out six assists to go along with three steals.
After exiting the first quarter up 33-29, the Warriors immediately put a sizable distance between themselves and the Heat, holding the Heat to 25% shooting in the quarter. The Warrior offense was connecting all night, however, making 52% of their shots from the floor including 40% (10-for-25) from deep. Meanwhile, they held the Heat to just 41% shooting from the floor and 17% (5-for-29) from beyond the arc.
The Warriors visit the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night in their final game before the All Star break.
