At the beginning of the season, the Golden State Warriors sought to prove to critics that their potential defensive woes were vastly overstated. On January 12, they set the NBA record for win margin in a 128-58 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. They’ve collected multiple 30-point wins and held opponents to 85 or fewer points in four straight games in November, the first time in franchise history since 2005.
On Thursday night in Boston, the Warriors put together another performance that further dispelled that rumor, holding the Boston Celtics to 34 percent shooting from the floor and under 20-points in three different quarters en route to a 134-82 victory.
The win extended the Warriors winning streak to 12 games, the fourth longest winning streak in franchise history and the longest since the Dubs reeled off 12 straight wins from November 7-28, 2016.
Stephen Curry paced the Warriors offense, putting together his second triple-double of the season with 34 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists while making six three-point field goals. He joins James Harden as the only players in NBA history to put together such a statline.
D’Angelo Russell added 29 points with eight rebounds, Draymond Green had a 14 points, 10 rebound double-double and Ky Bowman had 16 points in 17 minutes, the third straight game the two-way guard has scored in double figures.
The Warriors look to extend the winning streak to 13 games on Saturday night when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers.
