The Original Broadway Production​​

The 1903 Broadway  musical was based on the 1900 novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz b"y L. Frank Baum. With book and lyrics by the L. Frank Baum and Glen MacDonough as a joke writer. The show was one of the most successful musical comedies of the turn of the century and firmly cemented the timeless story and characters in the hearts and minds of the American public. The show premiered at the Chicago Grand Opera House on June 16, 1902. It open at the Majestic Theatre on Broadway on January 21, 1903, where it ran for 293 performances.
