Despite the numerous opportunities, that computer offers to expand the platform for expressivity in fine art painting, very few artists in my country (Ghana) have attempted exploration of the virtual tools of computer software for addressing compositional tasks in painting.

Digital painting must be seen as complementary artistic platform for enhancing traditional studio painting practice in terms of idealism and stylistic development. The shortcut approach of simply manipulating images and generating effects from software programmes should give way to actual rendition of forms with the virtual painting tools of graphic application software. Digital painters must allow their traditional painting skills to influence their mode of expression in the digital studio.
