Fundraising

GO PTO focuses your donations and efforts in order to improve your child's school experiences at Gibbs 6th Grade School and Ottoson Middle School. Among the activities we facilitate is a mini-grant program, designed to meet student needs identified by faculty and staff, and to help improve the work environment for teachers, including funding up to $250 to each teacher for classroom supplies.

If you have questions about GO PTO, or about how your contribution will be used, contact us at dearGO.PTO@gmail.com

GO PTO is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and your contribution is tax deductible. Please ask your employer about matching gifts.

The Annual Fund

Rather than do bake sales or ask students to sell wrapping paper or candy bars, we ask every Gibbs and Ottoson family to contribute to the GO PTO Annual Fund.

Approximately 95% of our fundraising dollars each year come from the Annual Fund.

While the suggested amount is $75 per family, any amount is welcome, and no amount is too small.

Contributions can be made online or by sending a check* payable to GO PTO, and mailed to:

*If you include your email address on your check we’ll thank you electronically and save a stamp!

Box Tops

Clip the pink Box Top coupons from the packaging of qualifying products (making sure each coupon has a valid expiration date and product code), and drop the coupons in to the collection box in the foyer at Gibbs or Ottoson.

The school earns .10c per Box Top. Sounds like a little but any little bit makes a difference. We earned $288 this year!

If you have any questions about the program and how it works, email Gibbs parent Erin Daly, Box Tops Coordinator, at erinsdaly@gmail.com

*ANNOUNCEMENT: starting sometime in June 2019 (exact date TBD), Box Tops will begin transitioning to going digital with an app, whereby instead of clippings, you will scan your receipts. Box Tops will accept clippings for another year or so, and then it will be 100% digital. For now, keep clipping, and we will post more information when it becomes available.

Amazon.com

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com.

The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation donates 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to GO PTO.

Stop and Shop A+ School Rewards

A+ School Rewards are points that supporters earn with each purchase made using their Stop & Shop Card, from September-March each schoolyear. Those points are used in a calculation to determine your school’s cash total, which is then automatically credited to your school’s account. Stop & Shop then cuts the schools a check at the end of the school year!

To use this program, you'll need to create an online account for your Stop & Stop card if you don't already have one. If you don't have a Stop and Shop card you can get one at the store.

One your account is created, you need to add schools for the A+ School Rewards program on your account. To do this, just visit Stop & Stop, click on Sign In -> Manage my Account -> Savings & Rewards. Under the A+ Rewards Program, click the Select School(s) link, then add the Gibbs or Ottoson. See this video, which demonstrates the process to follow.

If you don't remember your 13-digit Stop & Shop Card number, just call 1-877-366-2668.

Spring 2019: Funds2Orgs Shoe Drive Fundraiser

  • Goal: collect 2500 pairs (or more!) of shoes by June 19th (last day of school)
  • Reward: $1,000 (or more if we collect more than 2500 pairs) for Gibbs-Ottoson PTO

What kinds of shoes?

  • Any style, any age, any occasion or season. This even includes cleats and slippers!
  • Shoes can be new or used, but must be in wearable, clean, good condition. Check out this 2-minute do's and dont's video if you aren't sure.
  • No single shoes, no moldy shoes, no skates or rollerblades.

Where do I bring the shoes?

  • To Gibbs or Ottoson during school hours no later than June 19th. When you arrive, inquire at the main offices, the admin staff will direct you to where to put them.
  • Or, to the DPW Recycling event Saturday June 8th, 9AM-12PM, 51 Grove Street. Look for the GO PTO Shoe Drive dropoff area.

I don't have any more shoes to donate, what else can I do?

Ask your friends! Tell your neighbors!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Funds2Orgs will pay GOPTO a per pound rate for the number of shoes collected, and sell them at a low cost to micro-entrepreneurs (aka small business owners) in developing countries. Those micro-entrepreneurs will then resell the shoes in their communities for a profit. With this fundraiser you can clear the clutter in your closet, raise money for the PTO's enrichment efforts, AND support small business owners in developing countries at the same time -- it's a win-win!
