GNFSA TRAINING CAMP

5 - 11 December 2016

Dear Skater & Coach,

You are hereby cordially invited to attend the GNFSA Figure Skating Association’s SUMMER CAMP 2016!

On completion of the camp, skaters, coaches and parents will have received valuable tools and information to improve performance quicker, thus saving time and money and ultimately becoming better skaters and athletes, both competitively and socially.

PURPOSE:

The camp aims to improve both the technical abilities of the skaters as well as their physical conditioning. The skaters will be given a training program to follow during the December break as well as the skills to follow it properly to come back fitter and stronger in January!

The aim also is to show the coaches how technology can improve the training environment and give them an introduction to the technology available and the specialists involved to assist their skaters to improve quicker.

The GNFSA also wishes to improve the COMPONENT skills of coaches and skaters by having a session with experts in the field of DRAMA to help improve the INTERPRETATION and CHOREOGRAPHY of the programs, something coaches can’t always attend to due to a lack of training time. The aim is to provide the skater with valuable information to take away to be able to put their new knowledge into practice with their own programs for the rest of the season.

Megan Allely will be the primary facilitator of the training camp. She will receive able assistance from Heinrich Painczyk, Ernest Hobbs & Wayne Coldman.

This will be a first in South African Figure Skating when professional trainers and Video Analysts from the High Performance Centre in Pretoria and the Sports Science Institute in Cape Town combine resources to benefit all figure skaters. An opportunity not to be missed!

Training will take the form of On Ice training in the morning and evening, with Off ice training during the day.

The training schedule and training groups will be communicated as soon as entries have closed and will be determined by the GNFSA at its sole discretion.
