GMB Toolkit – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
GMB Toolkit is a Chrome extension that shows Google Business Profile categories on Google Maps and Google Search. This policy explains what information it handles.
What it reads
- The search you run on Google Maps or Google Search (for example "dentist in Pune").
- Public business information shown by Google: business names, categories, ratings, review counts, addresses and Place IDs.
The extension does not read your Google account, emails, passwords, payment details, location or anything on sites other than Google Maps and Google Search.
What it stores, and where
Everything is stored only in your own browser, using Chrome's extension storage:
- Your settings (panel, labels and search shortcut on or off).
- The last search you ran, so the toolbar button can reopen it on Google Maps.
- Business categories it has looked up, kept for up to 3 days so repeat searches load faster.
What it sends
To get a business's full list of categories, the extension requests that business's public page from Google, the same way Google Maps does when you open it. These requests go only to Google.
GMB Toolkit has no server. It does not send any information to the developer or to any third party, and it does not use analytics, tracking or advertising.
Sharing and sale
We do not sell, rent or share user data. We do not use it for any purpose other than the extension's single purpose, and never to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
Deleting your data
Remove the extension from Chrome (chrome://extensions) and everything it stored is deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
