Thelma Gloria Consuelo Morgan Moore, 80 of Raleigh, passed away on Thursday in Durham, North Carolina.

Connie was born to the late Harry Hays Morgan, Jr. and the late Edith Churchill Gordon on December 17, 1933, in Paris, France.

The daughter of an American diplomat, Connie and her family escaped Europe early in the war and relocated to Beverly Hills, California. After graduating from high school, Connie lived in Montreal, Canada; New York City; and Miami, Florida.

While in New York, Connie worked as a copy editor for the New York Times and later as a legal secretary for the law firm of Sherman & Sterling.

In Miami, Connie earned her college degree from Miami Dade Community College (now Miami Dade College), worked for the Miami Herald, and later for the law firms of Myers, Kenin, Levinson, Frank & Richards; and Shutts & Bowen.

Following her retirement, Connie moved to be closer to family: first in Austin, Texas, and later in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Connie volunteered at Duke Raleigh Hospital and was an active participant at Church of the Apostles in Raleigh.

Connie is survived by three children: Susan McKenzie Pringle Eckel, of Indianapolis, Indiana and her husband, J. Laurence Eckel; Charles McKenzie Pringle, of Raleigh; and Jackson Wyatt Moore, Jr., of Raleigh, and his wife, Jeanne Blackstock Moore. Connie also is survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

A Service of the Resurrection celebrating Connie’s life will be held at Church of the Apostles, 333 Church at North Hills St., Raleigh, NC 27609, on Thursday, May 1 at noon. Connie’s ashes will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery next to the ashes of her late husband, Jackson Wyatt Moore.
