Minutes

Meeting Started at 6 pm

1. Welcome - Pondie (PTA president)

2. Approve the minutes from Jan 12th

3. Groceries (Kira & Maren)

   2. Lots of people who are stepping up to help, we have more volunteers than roles

   3. We’re providing 56 families food each week at about $60/family/week

   4. We need to keep raising funds so that we can keep up what we are doing

   5. We would need $65K to maintain what we’re doing through the school year.

4. Treasurer Report 

   1. Balance as of 1/31: $30,000 (checking), $20,000 (savings)

   2. Direct Ask: at about $8,000 (goal was $15K, we won’t make that, that’s okay. The bulk of this money goes to support the art residencies.)

      1. We will still give $10K to the school ($5K to each campus), and if we need to get some out of savings, we will do that.

   3. Reminder that PTA will give up to $200 to each teacher for supplies.

5. Observers

   1. Jon W @ Upper: we’re a visible presence, vests on, whistles, standing at different locations around the school. We have not seen ICE presence at Upper. If you’re interested in volunteering, email Jon @ jonathanwaldo@gmail.com 

   2. Alicia @ Lower: You can get Sign Up Genius in Signal Group Chat. Lots of neighbors are filling the slots. Tricky for Lower families because they are actually picking up and dropping off their kids. It would be great to have people join observers group! Feedback from patrollers is always welcome!

   3. SPFE Jotform is how we are getting info from the community

6. Fundraisers Eat out for GAP! 

   1. We made $663 from Davanni’s

   2. Chipotle is Feb 10 (tomorrow!!) 

   3. Looking into My Burger for March

7. Square One has begun as of today! (Michelle)

   1. Papers have been delivered to both campuses (all Lower teachers, just 5th grade teachers @ Upper, but anyone can do it at Upper, just grab the forms!)

   2. Due to PTA mailbox by Monday, March 16

   3. Products will be here in time for Mother’s Day

   4. How can we get students at home the S1 stuff?

      1. Can go home with groceries, teachers online can help students know how to fill it out, can return during another grocery drop off

      2. GoFundMe for art supplies for kids at home

8. Dance update (upper and lower)

   1. Lower is postponed to later in the spring

   2. Upper is also postponed

9. Plant Sale update

   1. We’re not doing it this year. The community needs are more important than plants right now.

   2. We’re going to try to hit S1 hard as well as maybe add some more food fundraisers to help make up the approx $3k that we usually make

   3. Also, the company we go with has changed things up so the process is more complicated, so seems like a good time to take a break

10. Lower Campus watching “High School Musical” at Upper on Feb 13th! 

    1. Parent volunteers at both campuses will be there to make sure kids get on and off buses safely. 

11. What else?

    1. Conferences: end of March. Need leads for both Upper and Lower to help feed staff. Email Pondie if you can help.

    2. March 26 and 31 for Upper

    3. March 30 and ?? for Lower

    4. Keep raising money for the large district fundraiser, too! They provide rent for families across the district.
