This Privacy Policy explains how the Giyuu mobile application ("Giyuu", "we", "us", or "the app") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. Giyuu is operated by an individual developer based in the Philippines. By using Giyuu, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at: jatzenz31.dev@gmail.com
Giyuu is a location-sharing and messaging app that helps families and trusted friends stay connected by sharing their real-time location within private groups, and by sending direct and group messages.
When you use Giyuu, we collect the following information:
Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account.
Location information: With your permission, we collect your device's real-time GPS location so it can be shared with members of the groups you join. We also store a short history of your past locations to power the "location trail" feature within your groups.
Messages: We store the direct messages and group messages you send so they can be delivered to the people you send them to.
Group information: The groups you create or join, and your membership in them.
Usage information: Basic technical information such as your last-active time, used to show whether you are currently online.
We use your information only to operate the app's features:
To show your location to members of the groups you choose to join.
To deliver your messages to your friends and group members.
To let other users find you by name or email so they can send you a friend request.
To show your online/offline status.
To provide navigation and place search through Google Maps.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising. Giyuu is ad-free.
Your real-time location is visible only to members of the groups you personally join. It is never public, never sold, and never shared with anyone outside your groups. You can stop sharing your location at any time by enabling Ghost Mode in the app, or by leaving a group.
Your information is stored using Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), a cloud service provided by Google. Your data is protected by Firebase's security infrastructure and by access rules that restrict who can read your information. Location data is only readable by members of your groups.
Giyuu uses the following third-party services, which have their own privacy policies:
Google Sign-In – for account authentication.
Google Firebase – for data storage and authentication. See Firebase Privacy.
Google Maps Platform – for maps, place search, and navigation. See Google Privacy Policy.
Giyuu may be used by family members of all ages, including children under 18. We take the privacy of younger users seriously.
If you are a parent or guardian: we strongly recommend that a parent or guardian set up and supervise the use of Giyuu for any child, and that a child only joins groups consisting of trusted family members. A child's location should only ever be shared within a private family group.
We do not knowingly collect more information from a child than is necessary to provide the app's location-sharing and messaging features. If you believe a child has provided us information and you would like it removed, please contact us at jatzenz31.dev@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Stop sharing location: Turn on Ghost Mode, or leave a group, at any time.
Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account from within the app (Profile → Delete Account). This removes your profile, stops sharing your location, and removes you from your groups.
Access or correct your data: Contact us at the email below.
As a user in the Philippines, you have rights under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), including the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and location data are removed. Please note that messages you have already sent to others may remain visible to those recipients, as they form part of the recipient's own chat history.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
